Our Hospice Dogs
These dogs are in hospice care - this means they are usually a senior dog, often abandoned near the end of their life. They need medical treatment and lots of care as we try to give them a safe, loving environment for the rest of their life.
In most cases, our hospice dogs will not be adopted and will remain with Belinda or one of the trusted fosters. Please consider helping us with vet costs, specialized medication/diets, and other necessities if you are able to, we could NOT do this without our donors and volunteers!!

Meet Lucy
Lucy is a 12 year old rescue that came from Las Vegas. She was badly abused before coming into our care and very overweight from having been fed poorly for her entire life. Lucy is deaf and going blind and to top it off she has a large kidney stone. As we continue to monitor all of her health issues, we will keep working hard to heal her with proper nutrition, love and a lot of patience. |
In Memoriam
Oli
Oli came to CB Rescue having suffered abuse while trying to survive on the streets of Mexico which resulted in having his tail amputated. We don't believe Oli ever mentally recovered from the amputation. After many trips to the vet to determine why he seemed to be suffering in pain, the vets concluded he was experiencing phantom limb pain. No amount of medication, love or care seemed to make Oli better. So with a broken heart we new saying good bye was what was best for Oli. We wish we could have taken his pain away and loved him for years to come, but we know he rests easy now. |
Charlie
Charlie came to CB Rescue as a senior blind dog after his beloved owner had passed away. In the short time he was with CB Rescue he knew nothing but love from his foster family who wanted to see Charlie thrive. But we believe Charlie died from a broken heart. Charlie was loved by both his previous owner and all of us at CB Rescue. We wish we had more time to give him all the love in the world. |
Sid
In the 6 months we had Sid in our rescue, we took him to countless specialist. All of those doctors advised us to humanly euthanize. After meeting with a surgeon he gave us the results of the CAT scan. It showed that Sid suffered severe fractures to his jaw from when he was as young as two weeks old at the hands of a human. This fracture went untreated which resulted in his jaw fusing together in a way that prevented him from being able to chew food properly or safely and it stopped him from opening or shutting his mouth. Sid had a VERY high rate of choking on something as simple as water which would have resulted in die a painful and traumatic death. By the time Sid came to CB Rescue, there was no hope of reversing the abuse he suffered. We loved Sid dearly. This is why we put thousands of dollars towards his medical care in an effort to exhaust all possibilities for him. While we grieve the loss of our beloved Sid, our hearts are at ease knowing he knew nothing but love from the moment he arrived at CB Rescue all the way to the very end. We love you Sid. |
Caracchio
This sweet old man was abandoned by his owners because he was “too old”. After we rescued him and brought him back to Canada, Caracchio lived out the rest of his life with a family that loved him to the end and cared for Caracchio with all their hearts! Carracchio will be missed dearly and we were so happy to give him the best days of his life. |
Bella Swan
Bella Swan was a 10-year-old lady we rescued from LA, where she was abandoned at a high-kill shelter because of her old age and health. She has had a hard life - bred over and over, left in the backyard, no vetting, no teeth cleaned, not spayed, her ears hacked off, and left without proper care. We saved her just in time and flew her to Calgary to be taken care of. Bella Swan had terminal cancer but got to spend a wonderful year with us and the CB Rescue family. She had gotten through most of #bellasbucketlist to help her create happy experiences in her old age. We loved Bella Swan with all our hearts and will miss her immensely. |
Ashley
Ashley was rescued from a high-kill shelter when she was 11, and CB Rescue was happy to have had her as a hospice dog for about six months until April 2020. She has unfortunately passed over the rainbow bridge, but are so thankful that she got the love and care she deserved! Rest in peace Ashley, we will remember you! |
