Chico's Family
We have adopted great dogs from rescue organizations before, but CB Rescue, and the founders Colin and Belinda, set the five star, gold bar standard. They have committed their own blood, sweat, tears, and bank account to save countless dogs. In spite of the staggering number of dogs lives saved, each dog is treated like they are the only dog. Each dog saved from a high kill shelter or abused on the streets is accepted into the rescue as if Colin and Belinda had been waiting their entire lives for them. In addition to being given love, nurturing, healthy food and care, they are also given full health inspection, medical treatment, vaccinations, behavioral support, and everything else they could possibly need to set them on a path to success.
This same attention to 360-degree care and preparation is provided to the homes and hearts that adopt the dogs from CB Rescue. Belinda has a careful and intentional system of placing/matching dogs with their families and it includes both short and long term transition supports. Truly, by the time your little four-legged family member comes into your come, you will have also been welcomed into the CB Rescue family. We are so grateful that our little friend has come into our lives, bringing Belinda and Colin along for our forever journey.

Keeta's Family
In March of 2023, we adopted a beautiful dog named Margarita from CB rescue. (Now named Keeta). She is a 3-year-old greyhound mix and she came personally recommended to us by Belinda. Upon adoption, CB rescue recommends having some initial standard tests done by a veterinarian and we went ahead with these. Unfortunately she came back positive for a serious medical condition. We were heartbroken when we found out. Belinda, her husband Colin, and the whole CB rescue team supported and helped us through the whole treatment process at no cost to us. We were asked to trust them and we did. About eleven months later Keeta tested negative for that medical condition and we were thrilled and relieved! CB rescue came through with flying colours! We now have a healthy and happy canine member of our family. We were fortunate to have such a dedicated rescue team behind us and would highly recommend CB Rescue to anyone looking to adopt a rescue dog. They are an excellent team and Belinda is so great at helping people find the dog(s) that suit them best.

Winston's Family
Pippin and Honey's Family
We’ve never encountered a person (and her husband) so giving of themselves towards the well-being of these rescue dogs. Belinda is the definition of self-sacrifice and we are so fortunate to have these dogs in our family. We really hit the jackpot when we adopted our first rescue from CB two years ago and have been lucky a second time to adopt from them again. Belinda genuinely cares for the well-being of these animals as well as finding the right home for them and we are so blessed to have these two dogs as part of our family.

Mazel and Mia's Family
Our rescue journey began when we started looking for a sidekick for our girl Mia. Given our positive experiences with all of our previous dogs having been rescues we began canvassing all the reputable rescue agencies within the Calgary area. We had began chatting with some local rescues and started reviewing possible candidates when we came across Mazels smile on CB rescues website.
After some great communication between CB Rescue and Mazels foster Mom we decided to setup a meet and greet with Mazel and our family, to see if there was a match. The whole adoption experience with CB Rescue was amazing, making sure Mazel was the right fit for us and vice versa was of the utmost importance and handled accordingly. CB rescue takes pride in making sure everyone wins, with the added Bonus points of Mazel’s foster mom being a dog trainer which made the decision that much easier! Mazel and Mia (M&M) are inseparably…. |
Spencer and Jasper's Family
Our family adopted Spencer from CB Rescue almost 2 years ago after being referred by a friend who had adopted their dog from Belinda. Spencer came into our lives and we have loved him to pieces ever since. The follow up and support we received from CB Rescue was incredible when it came to behaviour and health issues. Six months ago Belinda asked us if we would foster Jasper, and of course he has now become a permanent member of our family. With CB Rescue we feel that we have gained a whole family with so much support and exchange of help and information. It is a wonderful community and a privilege to be a part of this rescue group.
Phoenix's Family
I knew it was time to start looking for a dog but was hesitant. I needed the perfect dog for my kids and I, one that we could love and do lots with, but not too high maintenance. I reached out to Belinda at CB Rescue and was extremely impressed by her screening and diligence. She LOVES these animals! Once we were cleared, we were hoping to rescue little Hanna from the DR. We were SO excited but knew Belinda had to meet her first before it was confirmed she was ours. Once they landed back in Canada, I messaged Belinda asking about our potential girl. She messaged back that Hannah was to join another family. I was initially devastated but kept hope. I only had to wait a few minutes as Belinda contacted me back shortly after saying they had another dog that she felt would be a better fit- and she was RIGHT! Belinda said she had Laurent who was well behaved and was fantastic with everyone. We were so excited! My dad happened to be in Calgary (we live in B.C.) and Belinda quickly helped make things happen so we could get our sweet boy the next day! And he’s been ABSOLUTELY perfect for us!! I couldn’t ask for a better dog! Not only does CB Rescue truly care and love these dogs, but Belinda takes the time to ensure they are going to the right home- not just any home. We couldn’t be more grateful and love our boy so much (he’s now named Phoenix)
Belinda says: Hanna needed a very quiet home, I felt two small children was just too much for her. Laurent (now Phoenix) was a steadfast, confident dog that loved kids, I knew it was a match. Hanna is with her perfect home and so is Phoenix! When I first started this rescue, I thought it was all about saving dogs, I quickly realized that's only part of it, it is about finding the perfect home for every dog!

Mia's Family
I came across CB rescue on Facebook about a year ago. Our family was ready for a dog but the local, big name rescues just didn’t seem to suit our needs. After a phone call with Belinda, I just knew we were in touch with the right people. Her passion for rescue was what I get we were missing from the experience. We were looking for a bigger dog, preferably a bully breed because they’re typically so loving and sweet. We had a then 3 year old and a baby on the way, so the right fit was crucial. We ended up fostering little Bella Swan for a week and a half to see how a bigger dog would fit into our lifestyle. So glad we did. Our family needed a low to moderately active dog that was of course great with kids and good with people, as I run an at home business and have people coming into the house. Belinda went right to work and actually sent me a few videos and pictures of dogs from a rescue in Mexico. Mia, known as margarita then, stick right out. She was walking so well in the city, sweet with the other dogs, and so calm around children. It all seems like a blur, but before we knew it, we were over at Belinda’s to meet her the day she got in. From the start, Mia was snuggly as can be, and so gentle with our son. She was ours. On the drive home, she managed to muscle her way to the front and put her head on my husbands lap. We were hooked. When we had our other son a few months later, she was equally as gentle and protective of him. She loves to play and chase her football, but lovin' is what Mia does best. I can’t thank Belinda enough for the care and time she took to bring Mia into our lives. We are forever grateful
Belinda says: I remember the day Melissa contacted me about what her family was looking for in a dog. They were a low to medium energy family. She had young child and a baby on the way. I knew I needed to find a dog that was good on leash, good with children, loved people and was an all around family dog. So I set out to find them a bully breed that fit this description. I found Mia at our partner rescue in Mexico. We get great dogs from there because they have a trainer who tests them with people, kids, dogs, leashes, cars and kennels. So we brought back two dogs, Mia and Tulip as both matched the profile, but Mia was the one that fit best for their family.
Kiki's Family
We adopted Kiki, Nov. 2019, and Gigi, March 2020 from CB rescue. We can’t be happier with our decisions made to adopt both of our fur children from CB. Our babies are absolutely wonderful and we love them so much. We feel absolutely honoured to be approved by Belinda for two of her dogs. Being a dog lover, currently owning three dogs, fostering a dog at a time, I have been volunteering my time, and supporting by making donations with a few rescues, so I have very good ideas on how different each rescue group runs. CB rescue is definitely the one I would feel 100% confident suggesting to my friends and family looking to adopt a dog from. Given all vetting information, receiving all support needed for any behaviour issue - Belinda will provide everything you would need to make sure her dogs are successful and loved. Through the deeply considered adoption process, CB rescue will ensure the best match for each dog. From the great conversation I had with Belinda in the interview, she knew exactly what we were looking for, and let us adopt Kiki. Then she already learned the dynamic of our family and our pack members, she suggested Gigi as our third dog and we have such a balanced pack! We are so thankful to CB rescue!!! Please take time to read “what makes a good rescue” on the website to learn, and make your decision.
Chico's Family
My family of five recently adopted through CB Rescue. We had our eye on two of their pups that were arriving from the Dominican. We had the pleasure of meeting them both, with my kids leaning towards the younger one. Belinda assured us that while the younger was more energetic and playful with the kids, the other guy would fit in better with our senior dogs’ temperament. She absolutely nailed it, and our new pup (now named Chico), has the most beautiful disposition with our senior pup, two cats, AND our kids. He knows who to approach for playtime and has completely settled in as part of our family. Thank you, Belinda, and all of CB Rescue, who work tirelessly to make sure all of the dogs end up in their perfect forever home!

Romeo and Hanna's Family
We adopted Romeo last Christmas and then we adopted Hanna this month from CB Rescue.
Romeo was red-listed in a Los Angeles shelter when Belinda saved him and brought him back to Canada to find him a family. Hanna was living in a shelter in the Dominican for 8 years. Belinda arranged to have Hanna come back to Canada so she could have a family of her own. That’s us.!! ❤️
Both Romeo (bully breed) and Hanna (chihuahua) fit in with our family perfectly! We love them to pieces. I have had dogs all of my life, so I’m no stranger to the canine world. CB Rescue is one of the most honest, caring and professional rescues I have encountered.
Belinda has an amazing gift at pairing the dogs with their forever families. She always does what’s best for the dog and I admire that in a Rescue, she set the dog up for success. With both of my dogs, I received all of their paperwork, microchip info, vaccination spay/neuter records and training help.
I love how much support CB Rescue offers to its adoptive families and the volunteers. Belinda or one of CB’s trainers are always quick to help you (your dog) with any problems or questions. I also love the quality of care they give their foster/adoptive dogs including food, medical, training, etc..
CB Rescue puts in the effort for these dogs and their families and it shows. That’s why I have adopted more than one pup from them and I will adopt from them in the future.

Jax's Family
We adopted Jax just over a month ago through CB Rescue, and had a great experience from start to finish. From the beginning Belinda was extremely professional in how she conducted her rescue. Straight forward with who
Jax was, what made him a special case, and why he had not already been adopted out to previous interested individuals. Belinda did not try to “sell” us on Jax in hopes of adopting him out as soon as possible, rather she was forthcoming about all aspects - from his many allergies, to his reactivity towards other animals which made him a more “complex” case. From the moment I spoke with Belinda I immediately gained great respect for her and for CB Rescue as it was clear that she had nothing but love and devotion to each and every animal she brought into her rescue foundation.
Not only was Belinda amazing from the get go, both her husband, Colin, and her son, Denzel, were wonderful to meet with as they had clearly been working with animals for a long time and taken their work to heart. Denzel even took time out of his busy schedule to meet with us at our home to show us tips and tricks that he found worked with Jax as he is a dog trainer.
Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Belinda, her family, and CB Rescue as they were all amazing in their communication, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra step to make sure her animals were placed in the best homes and treated as lovingly as possible.
Thank you CB Rescue!!!

Ellie's Family
This is my sweet girl Ellie, I adopted Ellie from CB rescue 2 years ago in April. She is the perfect fit for me in every way possible. She my 10km running buddy and she loves hiking in the mountains. Since she was brought over from Dominican Republic she is the most chill dog ever! I can literally take her everywhere with me. She's also the most emotionally aware dog... if I'm upset or stressed out she lays on my chest until I tell I'm okay.
I'm so grateful to CB rescue match making abilities... I would be so lost without my little puppy soulmate.

Mo's Family
We adopted Mo (short for Cesar Geronimo, a famous Dominican centre fielder) from CB Rescue in the spring of 2018. We had lost our amazing 13 year old dog the winter before and I had noticed a post on Facebook for CB Rescue. The dog that caught our eye on Facebook hadn’t arrived to Canada yet and after a lengthy conversation with Belinda she suggested that we should meet “Johnny”. We wanted an active dog who loved hiking, running, walks etc. Although we were used too much bigger dogs Mo has been a great match for us and loves all things active. He climbs mountains like a goat, lol.
When Mo isn’t doing something fun outside his next favourite thing to do is snuggle. He thinks he is a lap dog. He is just so full of love. Belinda told us the story of his rough start in life. We are so thankful that together with the shelter in the Dominican Republic that CB took a chance and brought Mo and his sister to Calgary so that they could have a second chance at a great life here that they so deserve. He makes us laugh every day and he has fit right in to our family. Whenever we had any questions Belinda was right there to help. It has been a great experience!

Maggie's Family
I heard about CB Rescue through a Facebook post from someone I knew many years ago who had adopted 2 dogs and made a post about lots of chihuahuas needing fosters. Fostering seemed like a great fit for our dog loving family and something I wanted my two boys to do and learn about volunteering.
Belinda was great about setting up the right dog for our family, Everything we needed was given to us for our first foster Maggie. We were all so excited. Our first foster was a perfect little dog, so timid and scared of the world but so eager to be loved.
Our first adoption event my boys loved every second of it, even helping to clean up dog pee!! Luckily for us Maggie wasn't adopted. It was then we knew she was meant to be with us!! Since then we have looked after Belinda's little chihuahua Sammy and fostered a 3 month old puppy Apollo and also found him a great home.
Belinda is an amazing human and I wish I only had the time to do what she does.
She has spent lots of time answering my many questions, I am never made to feel like I am bothering her!
We are looking forward to having another foster and being able to be more involved in future events.

Savannah's Family
I adopted Savannah in September. I had lost my last dog earlier that year in March to cancer. At the time I wasn't actively looking for a dog, but I knew what I was looking for and I would find my perfect match when the time was right. I saw Savannah on CB Rescue's Facebook page and read her description. I had a good feeling about her and needed to contact the rescue. When talking to Belinda, I was honest and upfront about what I was looking for and she felt Savannah would be a great match for me and my cat Lorenzo. I drove up to meet Savannah after her flight from Mexico and I was instantly in love. She is definitely an ambassador to her breed, she loves all people and animals. I had a great experience with CB rescue, their work is inspiring. I would definitely rescue from Belinda and Colin again. Thanks again for rescuing Savannah and filling the piece that was missing from my life.

Oscar's Family
One year and a few days ago on a Friday night, I was off loading a flight that was coming back from the Dominican Republic. I saw 4-5 kennels come off the plane, sadly I had to look from afar because we aren’t allowed in that area. A few days later on the Monday I was looking on Facebook and a picture of the cutest dog popped up on the CB rescue page and I couldn’t scroll past it, our Mieko had passed away a little over a month before then and we said we weren’t getting another dog, but there was something about this one that was different from the hundreds (more like thousands) of other dog pictures I’d seen, but I still told myself to ignore it.
An hour later my mom comes home from boot camp with one of the founders of CB Rescue, and hollers up the stairs to me “Victoria! There is this dog that Belinda brought back and I think we need him” I asked which one? Another hour later Nicole texted me a picture of the same dog I had looked at that morning and the same dog my mom fell in love with at boot camp. We applied to “foster” him the next day (sorry dad), Nicole and I went to meet him on the Thursday that week and we brought him home on Friday. When we met him on the Thursday, not only did I fall in love with him the minute he leaned up against me for the first time but Belinda told me that they brought them back from the Dominican on Friday night. So in one of those kennels that I saw while off loading the flight was this little pup that my mom, sister and I fell in love with.
It all happened so fast but I wouldn’t change a thing because Oscar came to me at a time that I didn’t know I needed him as badly as I did.
He is as stubborn and easily distracted as me, he is smart, playful and makes me laugh, he cuddles with me, and I take way too many pictures and videos of him being cute, even if he is just lying there (not even sorry).
There is something to be said about rescue dogs, like most dogs, all they have is love to give, but it is different because at one time they didn’t get that love in return.
Thank you to the wonderful team at Collares Rojos down in the Dominican Republic for rescuing our sweet boy and many like him and thank you Belinda at CB Rescue for bringing him home to us.
Happy 1 year Adoption Day Oscar!

Anita's Family
Sitting here tonight with Dale and our beautiful fur baby Anita. So grateful that she is in our life. Anita is so full of energy and love, she keeps me going when I am struggling with life and she will just lay beside me in bed and cuddle and kisses and surrounded with 74 pounds of pure love. Anita is so excited when her daddy comes home from a long hitch and she will spend hours just loving her daddy and sitting on his lap, yes she thinks she ...is a lap dog funny girl and loves her truck rides with daddy. Anita had a rough start in life and we are so thankful that their are beautiful people like CB Rescue who are so dedicated in helping all the beautiful fur babies that deserve to be treated kindly and have a life without pain and filled with love and adventures.
Anita keeps me motivated and filled with laughter with her funny antics. We have so many more adventures to look forward to. I could not imagine our life without our big beautiful fur baby in it.
Please think long and hard before buying a pet and consider a rescue baby. You will not regret it for a minute they have so much love to give and deserve a happy life with a beautiful family.
"Anita was found bound, her mouth, legs, she was hit with a machete, stomped and kicked put in a hole to die. A passerby heard her cries, they found 15 dogs in that hole...ALL DEAD!" This is why we save these dogs! CB Rescue Foundation does not discriminate about breed or location of the dog.
